This summer, get a head start on a Master of Computer Science degree!

In response to COVID-19 related disruption, Rice University is offering its summer catalog of courses at a significantly reduced tuition rate. For this summer only, MCS@Rice courses will be included in this catalog and offered to students not currently enrolled in the program. 

Students who complete any of these courses during the summer will receive credit towards the Rice University MCS@Rice degree when applying to the program in the future.

Tuition RateFor this summer only $500/credit hour. The standard professional  masters rate is $2134/credit hour – this is a 75%+ discount on courses this summer! 

The available courses are:

COMP 613 (Programming)

  • Prerequisite – Bachelor’s Degree* in any discipline.
  • Live session – Monday, 5:00pm CST

COMP 630 (Databases)

  • Prerequisite – Science or Engineering Bachelor’s Degree*, must have taken at least one computer science course (at a University, on Coursera, etc.)
  • Live Session – Thursday, 7:00pm CST

COMP 642 (Machine Learning)

  • Prerequisite – Science or Engineering Bachelor’s Degree*, must know statistics and have taken at least one computer science course (at a University, on Coursera, etc.)
  • Live Session – Tuesday, 5:00pm CST

COMP 665 (Data Visualization)

  • Prerequisite – Bachelor’s Degree* in any discipline, must have taken at least one computer science course (at a University, on Coursera, etc.)
  • Live Session – Wednesday, 5:00pm CST

COMP 682 (Algorithms)

  • Prerequisite – Science or Engineering Bachelor’s Degree*, must know calculus and algebra and be able to write small computer programs in some language
  • Live Session – Thursday, 9:00pm CST

*Includes Bachelor’s Degrees conferred in May of 2020

Sample the MCS@Rice program and courses, and earn master-level credit at a fraction of the usual cost. 

Courses start May 4th and end August 14th.
